Do you find yourself praying for the same thing over and over? Do you keep asking yourself these type of questions:
Why does this keep happening?
Why won’t this work?
When will I ever get this?
If this is you, then STOP doing this! This is the reason why the above things keep happening. I know it was for me. I didn’t start seeing my life turning around until I was able to focus on the end goal of what I was needing. I recall my wife telling me something my brother in law once told her. He said,”You ever stop to think why God continues to allow you to go through this turmoil you are in? It is because you keep praying for patience in your current situation. He figures you need more chances to learn patience”.
Colossians 4:2 – “Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving”.
If you come to God with thanksgiving, then that is when you will notice the difference. It does not matter what the circumstances are. Remember when Jesus rose Lazarus from the dead? Well, he wept. He loved Lazarus. However, although He was weeping, He still remained unwavered in His devotion and duty to God’s divine plan. He took this situation and glorified God.
Let’s look at those questions above and flip them a little bit:
Why does this keep happening? Lord I thank you for this chance to work hard another year so that I may achieve your work in this position and to help others where I may not have been able to any place else.
Why won’t this work? Lord I thank you for helping me to pause and find the right way for this to work or I thank You for showing me that it is time to move to what IS Your will for me.
When will I ever get this? Lord I thank You for giving this to me. I am excited for the day I get to show it to the world!
You see how this can easily be flipped to open up the flood gates for what the Lord has in store? He may say no, but just know it is for a divine purpose. He has a perfect plan for us! It is completely free of charge! All we must do, is believe in Him! Just know that as long as our position of glorifying God with all of our minds and hearts and spirits is where it is supposed to be, God will show us His blessings and plan for us. It has been many years for me. I was sulking and whining and moping, wondering why God hasn’t been blessing me. Well, it was because I was blocking it. He knew what I needed. He was trying to tell me. I was too prideful to see it. I can say that my devotion to Him is absolute! There is no earthly thing that will keep the love I have for the Lord away or the desire to achieve His plan for me.
This life is temporary. The goal is to get to our eternal life. The Lord desires to get us there. All we have to do is believe in Him. No matter the circumstances, His will and His plan will take care of us!
