The Last Supper

“For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from my Father.” (Source)

This, by far, is the most significant weekend we are approaching. This weekend is what it was all about. The victory over death. I don’t know about any of you that read this, but I am humble reflecting on this. Christ went into this knowing what His end would be. Imagine if you were someone that didn’t commit a crime, yet were apprehended by the authorities and got put through a fraction of what Christ experienced. All because of the fact that the people around you were blinded by their own purposes. Can you imagine that? What they had no idea of is this was the beginning of something revolutionary. They had no idea that God used the belief system that the people of that time had in order to achieve His will. With skewed minds and hardened hearts, they effectively achieved God’s will. Christ, although knowing His impending human fate, unwaveringly followed the will of God.

Matthew 26:26 – “Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.” (source)

The disciples had no idea what they were experiencing. This truly was the first ever communion. This was Christ breaking down what was going to happen to Him and what everything means. His flesh was being ripped to shreds through His passion so that our sins may be forgiven. It is so important that we remain in Christ and He remains in us.

We have to make sure that we keep in the front of our consciousness what Christ did for us. He endured and carried the FULL burden of sin (past, present, and future) during His passion. Comparing our life’s issues to Christ with what he bore for us… It doesn’t even compare. I am so grateful for what He endured so that I may have eternal life.

Until next time my brothers and sisters in Christ, God Bless.
