1 Corinthians 10:13 – “ No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it”. (Source)
Friends, this is a great reading. This pus things into perspective for me. God will not allow me to be tempted beyond what I can handle. Even when it seems tough, He gives me a way out of it all. I recall when I was so in the midst of all my turmoil and when I couldn’t seem to get past sin, or so I thought, I had a mentor come up to me and say something really profound. I feel to this day that God spoke to me through him. He said, “God doesn’t give us more than we can handle, but we seem to take on more than we can handle don’t we”? I can recall that my mind was instantly blown. I then thought to myself, that makes sense!
While thinking that, I do know that at the most inopportune times God does allow certain things to happen to get us to where He needs us to be. This sort of reminds me of the story of Isaiah when he was being fed by Ravens while he was hiding from Ahab. He was following God’s word perfectly. Then suddenly, God stopped commanding the Ravens to feed Isaiah and it was unclear to Isaiah why God was now allowing him to endure this. It is still the same. God will not allow things to happen on accident.
James 1:2-4 – “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing”. (Source)
God wants to strengthen us! That is what I have learned. He wishes to strengthen us beyond our imagination so that we can be out there praising His name, even in the face of adversity. All things together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose right?
I recall times that I would take on way too much and not include God or Jesus in ANY of my decisions, thinking “I got this” or I can handle that”. God basically said “Ok, you got it”! Well, just so happens, I fell flat on my face each time because I didn’t include God and follow His will and only take on what God allowed me to. What I found for me, is that really being in tune and staying close to God in ALL circumstances, God reveals to me what I need to do. Sometimes the task seems daunting, but I keep my focus on Him and ask His desire for me in any given situation and I usually end up quite alright. I encourage you, brothers and sisters to please…. Include God in ALL of your endeavours, really and truly include Him. He wants to help us through everything. Allow Him to do His work in your life and watch how easier and “lighter” your life becomes, despite your circumstances.
Until next time my brothers and sisters in Christ, God Bless.
