Exodus 20:8 – “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy”.
As we all know, God made the Earth, the Sun and Moon, the stars, and all life that was on Earth in six (6) days and rested on the seventh (7) day. It was here that He hallowed it and commanded us to keep it holy. That means no work, no stress, no court cases (if you have any), no budgeting, no bill planning, nothing.. Just a day to keep Holy and spend with Him.
He wants us to take one day of the week and rest our body and minds… To also glorify Him. The Bible says that God rested the 7th day. Some may ask… If Saturday is the 7th day, well why are you posting this today? Well keep reading below to find out!
I find today interesting. I overslept (comparatively speaking to when I normally wake up). I made the decision to start today right by waking up without an alarm clock, thus waking up naturally. Now, truth be told, I did no work yesterday either! My personal view is viewing the sabbath day as Saturday. This is the 7th day of the week, so since it is the 7th day of the week, it is Sabbath day. I will say, I am not a 7th day Adventist. One confession, God put into my mind about doing this post yesterday, yet I did not do it (due to requirements of driving I needed to do). So I fall asleep last night with no alarm and was woken up with the nastiest of headaches and sharpest of pains in my abdomen… So I start dealing with this and it is going on and on for 2 hours. All the while I am watching the sinfulness getting flooded into the social media (The election nightmare, the senseless violence, etc) and shaking my head. Then, it pops into my head again with a whisper “Keep it Holy”. It occured to me that I failed to post this yesterday. So I then began reading God’s word and praying for my family and how I can serve God and glorify His name today. Then I felt as if “Keep it Holy” was now getting screamed at me. Then I said “I need to do this post”. Then I noticed my headache was gone and my stomach pain was gone. I am not saying God gave me this pain. I am saying He allowed it to occur and then removed it once I decided to glorify His name and also asked for help.
God is a perfect and wonderful Father. He wants to help us all. We have to ask and be willing to glorify and honor Him at every chance we get. We need to be willing to bend to His will, even if it makes absolutely no sense. Praise be to God!
Until next time my brothers and sisters in Christ, God Bless!
