What is most important in your life?
There are so many things that we have going on in our lives (God, family, jobs, friends). Along with those things come many stressors (bills, debt, relational conflicts, work stressors, etc). With all this stuff that is piled on, we sometimes struggle to focus on what should be a priority. At one point in my life, for me, everything was a number 1 priority. That’s great and all to try to make everything a number 1 priority in a sense of getting it all done now, but the reality is… That really doesn’t work out. We tend to get stressed, anxious, nervous, and the like.
Thinking about these things reminds me that there is just one thing that should TRULY be a priority. That is God. All of us as God’s children tend to get so hyperfocused on earthly things that are surrounding us (yes I am talking about bills, debt, relational conflicts, work stressors, etc). This takes away our focus on the most important area of our life…. Our relationship with God. I think about Mark 4:35-41 where the time that the disciples were on the water where it was storming like crazy. Guess what Jesus was doing? Sleeping. Not only was he sleeping, but he had a pillow under his head so he meant to be asleep. As the disciples were all frantic about possibly dying, Jesus calmly woke up and nonchalantly commanded the seas and wind to calm down. Then He questioned the disciples’ faith. He asked His disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?”
That is just a taste of the Glory of God. Anything is possible with God. However, I can say for me, that God MUST be first! I can imagine the same goes for all of God’s children. I fully believe, that in Heaven, there is unending love and grace and happiness well beyond our imagination. There won’t be any bills, debt, relational conflicts, work stressors, etc. These are all earthly things. So let’s put God FIRST in all areas of our life. While life isn’t perfect and will throw us complications, we can believe that we are much better equipped to handle them with the Lord in our corner and in our hearts.
Romans 12:2 – “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect”.
Until next time my Brothers and Sisters in Christ, peace be with you.
